MagicINFO license activation errors 4315 and 5000

The error codes below are reported by administrators on particular builds; we have not reproduced them ourselves, so each section names the build era and gives you a check you can run on your own server. For error 1300, see License Activation Error 1300.

The codes below were seen under Setting > License Management > License History. Look there first and note the exact code.

Error 4315: "port 443 is blocked"

Reported on MagicINFO 6 and 7 era builds. Online activation fails with a message that port 443 is blocked, and License History records 4315. Administrators found that nothing was blocked: the activation form had been submitted with a mandatory registration field empty. The fields are company, department, address, e-mail, phone, and the consent box.

Check:

  1. From the server, confirm outbound HTTPS works at all, for example by opening any HTTPS site in a browser on the same machine. If it does, the firewall is probably not the cause.
  2. Run the activation again and fill in every field, including the consent box. Steps: Activate a license.
  3. If it still fails, activate offline. The offline method does not use the online form.

This was reported as fixed in later builds. If a current build still returns 4315, use the offline method.

Error 5000: license of the same type already active

Reported, seen with DataLink licenses. The server already holds an active license of the same type, so a second one is refused. Check License Management for an existing entry of that type. If you really want to replace it, return the old one first and then activate the new key. Returning removes device information and stops the server from working until you activate again, so read the warning in Manage licenses and back up before you do it.

Additional activation fails after a hardware change

Licenses are tied to the H/W Unique Key the activation dialog shows. That key comes from the server's hardware identity, so reported causes of "additional activation" suddenly failing are:

  • replacing a network adapter or the motherboard;
  • moving a virtual machine to another host;
  • cloning a virtual machine.

Check: open the activation dialog and compare the H/W Unique Key with the one you activated against. If it differs, the license belongs to the old key. Return the license and activate it against the new key. If the old server is gone and cannot return it, contact your supplier, who can advise on releasing it.

Licenses per organization: the button is greyed out

Reported for MagicINFO Server 9. Under License Management > License Status, only paid licenses can be allocated to organizations. If the server has only free licenses, the assign-organization button is greyed out. Check which licenses are listed and whether any of them is a paid one, such as a paid Unified Player license. The allocation steps are on Manage licenses.

Reported behaviour, not verified by us; build eras as named above. Last reviewed October 2026.
