Before You Start with S Player
Read this section before using S Player for the first time. It explains the naming and notation conventions used throughout the S Player documentation, then covers the initial setup steps — setting the display's date and time and linking the player to a MagicINFO Server — that must be completed before the player can receive distributed content and schedules.
In practice
- Set the display's time zone and daylight-saving option, not just the clock. Once the display is linked, the server sends it UTC time about every 30 minutes and the display applies its own zone and DST; the server's own time zone never reaches the screen.
- A clock that is far off can stop the first connection, and a clock that jumps forward past midnight makes the display start the next day's schedule straight away. See Setting the Device Time and Date.

- MagicINFO S Player is shortened to S Player, MagicINFO Premium Server to Server and MagicINFO Premium Author to Author.
