RuleSets: Play Content Automatically by Conditions

The RuleSet function automatically plays content or a playlist when set conditions or playback rules are met. A RuleSet combines condition rules (for example, a time window or a screen size) with play rules that define what to play when those conditions are satisfied, so a single published RuleSet can cover many situations across a device fleet. This section is for administrators and content managers who need condition-driven playback rather than fixed schedules.

info

A RuleSet can be published only when it contains both condition rules and play rules. Without a play rule, it can only be saved temporarily.

What's in this section

  • Creating and managing RuleSets — Create a RuleSet: choose supported devices, add condition rules, build play rules and a default play rule, then save it so it can be published.
  • Edit Condition and Play Rules in a RuleSet — Add, delete and change condition and play rules in an existing RuleSet, save rules to the library for reuse and paste copied rules into place.
  • RuleSet Example: Play by Time of Day — Worked example: build a RuleSet that plays content only on a 49-inch model between 9:00 and 13:00, then add more conditions to refine it.
  • View RuleSet Details and Content — Open a RuleSet from the list to see its details and the content it plays, browsing all RuleSets or one group at a time in MagicINFO Server.
  • Organize RuleSets into Groups — Create RuleSet groups, file RuleSets into them from the list or from the details window, rename groups and delete the ones you no longer need.
  • Manage Rules in the RuleSet Rule Library — Create, edit and delete the reusable rules kept in Rule Management, so the same conditions can be added to many RuleSets without rebuilding them.
  • Copy, Delete or Restore a RuleSet — Copy a RuleSet from the list or while editing it, delete it, restore it from the Recycle Bin or remove it for good, and export the RuleSet list.
