Managing Content
The Content menu of the MagicINFO Server web console holds every file that can be played on your displays. Use this section to register new content, keep it organized with folders, categories, and shared folders, approve submissions from other users, and add files to playlists ahead of scheduling. It is intended for content managers and for administrators who review and approve material before it is published.
info
Available functions in MagicINFO Server may vary depending on the user privilege or role.
Good to know
- All Contents lists the content added by all users you can see. My Contents lists only the content you added, and you can create sub-folders there.
- Every account has a default folder. Content can only be shared between users of the same organization, and only files set to be shared.
- If content approval is turned on, files added by users without content management rights wait in the Unapproved list until an authorized user approves them. See Approving content.
- With content management rights you can edit or delete content that other users in your organization added.
What's in this section
- Viewing content details — Open a content file's information window to check or change its name, group, sharing and other details, or edit several content files at once.
- Managing my content by folder — Create folders under My Content, move files between them, rename folders and delete the ones you no longer need to keep a large library tidy.
- Managing content by category — Assign categories to content files in MagicINFO Server and filter the content list by category to find files quickly in a large media library.
- Viewing content by user — Browse content grouped by the user who uploaded it. Administrators see every user's files; what other users can see depends on the role they hold.
- Sharing content — Create shared folders so users can work with each other's content, share or unshare files, and see which roles are allowed to manage sharing.
- Approving content — Approve, reject or delete content uploaded by users who lack publishing rights, from the Unapproved Content list in the MagicINFO Server Content menu.
- Deleting or restoring content — Delete content files you no longer use, restore them from the Recycle Bin when needed, or empty the Recycle Bin to remove them from the server for good.
- Adding content files to a playlist — Add one or several content files straight from the content list to an existing playlist with Add to Playlist, without opening the playlist editor.
- Download, Export and View Options for Content — Download content files as a ZIP archive, export the content list to Excel or PDF, and switch how the list is displayed in the MagicINFO Content menu.
