Display Not Registering with the Server

When a display fails to register with the MagicINFO server, the cause is almost always in the network path or in the connection settings entered on the device. Work through the checks below in order.

Check power and network

Confirm the display is powered on and has a working wired or wireless network connection. Without basic connectivity, registration cannot start.

Verify the server connection settings

On the device, review the server settings entered during setup: the server address, the SSL setting, and the port number. A single typing error in any of these prevents registration, and the server address must be entered in lowercase. For the full entry procedure, see Connecting a device to the server.

The port numbers used by MagicINFO are listed in MagicINFO Server ports.

Rule out a firewall block

A firewall between the display and the server can silently block the connection ports. A quick way to isolate this: if the display has Wi-Fi capability, connect it to a mobile phone hotspot instead of the local network. If the display registers successfully over the hotspot, the local network is at fault — most likely the required port is blocked in the firewall.

Update the firmware

Make sure the display is running the latest firmware. Outdated firmware can cause connection failures with newer server versions. See Update Display Firmware and Player Software for publishing firmware updates from the server, or contact your MagicINFO supplier or Samsung representative for the current firmware file.

Check the time and date

An incorrect clock on the display can also prevent the server connection from being established. Verify the settings as described in Setting the device time and date.
